We Repair, Maintenance, and Install Dual Fuel Systems
When the combination of a heat pump and gas/oil furnace is used to heat and cool your home, it is a dual duel system. There are different variations of dual fuel systems, but this is the most common combination.
The heat pump acts as the primary source of heating and cooling during mild weather, and the furnace kicks on as a secondary stage when the outside temperature approaches freezing. This is because a heat pump runs more efficiency during mild weather, but a furnace is more effective in very cold weather.
As illustrated, you can see that the heat pump goes outside the home and the furnace sits inside. A cased coil sits directly on top of the furnace, in the case of a dual fuel system.
