The customer contacted Handyside Plumbing, HVAC & Electrical to request a plumbing estimate after experiencing a clog in their basement. They had another company out over the weekend to address the immediate issue, during which jetting was performed to clear the blockage. A subsequent camera inspection revealed bellies and cracks in the sewer line, confirming underlying issues beyond the clog. Seeking a long-term solution, the customer reached out to Handyside to receive an estimate for replacing the sewer line and addressing the problem properly.
Handyside Plumbing, HVAC & Electrical resolved the issue by completing a full sewer line replacement and repair despite the lateral being at a significant depth, which required larger equipment. We pulled the necessary permits and coordinated PA One Call, then excavated and trenched from the home to the curb to access the damaged clay line. After safely exposing the pipe, we removed the failing section, bedded the trench with stone for stability, and installed new 4" PVC piping with two new cleanouts (one at the home and one at the curb) for easier future service. We also lined the section from the curb to the street, tested the system to confirm proper operation, and coordinated the township inspection. Once approved, we backfilled and restored the area, including replacing the concrete sidewalk.
